Booker Shortlist

The shortlist for the Man Booker Prize was announced today.

• Darkmans by Nicola Barker
  
• The Gathering by Anne Enright
  
• The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mohsin Hamid
• Mister Pip by Lloyd Jones
• On Chesil Beach by Ian McEwan
• Animal’s People by Indra Sinha

McEwan is still the favorite, although Barker is apparently his biggest competition. McEwan won the prize for Amsterdam, which isn't considered his best work, and On Chesil Beach is garnering some opposition, due to the fact that it is more of a novella than a novel.

*edit: Apparently Jones is edging out McEwan as the new favorite to win. I knew there was a reason that I subscribe to the Booker blog.
