Madeleine L'Engle

Children's book author Madeleine L'Engle died yesterday, reports the NYT. I read a good number of her books when I was in elementary school, and while I can't summon a synopsis of any of them, I remember that at the time I loved them, namely "A Wrinkle in Time," though I did also read her Austin series.

I recall reading an interview with authors on writing once, and L'Engle's quote was the one that stuck with me — "I write with my hands." From time to time, if I need to write and can't think of what to say, I take her advice and I just start typing until the ideas I was searching for come to me.
