Phillips After 5

Tomorrow is Phillips After 5, the monthly after hours event at the Phillips Collection that combines art and entertainment. This month's event coincides with Morandi: Master of Modern Still Life. I saw the exhibit last month and it's calming and lovely.

Look for music by Unstrung, a piano and violin duo, and a tasting of Italian wines by Best Cellars from 5-8 p.m.

At 6 and 7 p.m. there's a gallery talk, Hear the Silence: Morandi’s Subtle Variations, about how Morandi used subtle variations in line, shape and color to create the meditative aura in his paintings.

At 6:30 p.m. Douglas Burton, owner of Apartment Zero, discusses sustainable design and mass production of household objects.

Music and wine are by donation, and the talks are included in admission to special exhibition and free for members. Exhibition admission is $12 for adults, $10 for visitors 62 and over and students, and free for members and visitors 18 and under.
