Mark your calendars for August 21 and 22. Ben's Chili Bowl, one of my favorite city landmarks, celebrates their 50th anniversary this week.
Ben and Virginia Ali opened Ben's on August 22, 1958 and to celebrate, they're holding a free gala at the Lincoln Theater on the 21st from 8-10 p.m. The next day, they're holding a block party on U St. What to look for: live music and free food.
