New Sculpture Coming to NGA Garden

The National Gallery of Art announced this week that they commissioned American sculptor Roxy Paine to make a stainless steel Dendroid, what he calls his tree-like sculptures. The piece will be installed this fall.

Graft
combines two trees — one gnarled and one smooth — evoking the human desire "to alter and recombine elements of nature, as well as the ever–present tension between order and chaos."
