Jan Lievens: A Dutch Master Rediscovered

The National Gallery opens another new show this weekend, with work by Dutch master Jan Lievens. I'm a huge fan of Dutch art, and love the glow that emanates from the paintings. Many of Lievens' paintings were originally attributed to Rembrandt, and it's pretty easy to see why — the pair were friends and share similar techniques and subject matter.

The show is a great introduction to an artist I knew little about, and it includes paintings, drawings and prints. Opens Sunday with two lectures on Lievens.

Thanks for the heads up! I love the National Gallery's shows.

Incidentally, I also love the Kasteel Rouge at Brasserie Beck. Is that the cherry lambic you had? :)

It's actually the St. Louis Premium Kriek, but the cherry lambic is amazing too!

I must try the Kriek, then. I love how easy it is (relatively) to find lambic, framboise, etc. in DC. thanks!
