Meridian Hill Park

I think I have a new Sunday morning ritual: iced coffee and newspaper in Meridian Hill Park. I actually hadn't ever been there before, despite walking past it many times, but with huge fountains and shade-inducing trees to sit under, it is a perfect lounging place in Columbia Heights/Mount Pleasant.

There's also a statue of Dante Alighieri. Though I have no idea why it's there, I now think a Dante party in the park is in order, seeing as his birthday is between May 18 and June 17. So watch inboxes for an early June invitation to the First Annual Dante Alighieri Summer Brunch Party.
