The Gathering, by Anne Enright won the Booker Prize today.
Apparently family epic is "exhilaratingly bleak."
This sounds marvelous. And perfect winter break reading, since I won't be able to read anything for fun until then.
Except I'm reading "The Secret History" yet again, thanks to Layne putting it in her facebook info and reminding me how much I love it. And every time I read it, I see more examples of how brilliant Donna Tartt's writing is, how compelling her plot is, and how much I want to write a novel.
