I found this article by Jack Thurston about why we shouldn't re-read books to be amusing, since I completely support re-reading texts. The comments posted by enraged readers are absurd.
I re-read "The Secret History" by Donna Tartt about once per year. This month marks the five year anniversary since I first discovered it, so there will be an anniversary re-reading. I didn't like "To Kill A Mockingbird" or "The Great Gatsby" at first reading either, and the second time through I loved them. I owe "Catcher in the Rye" a re-reading as well, since I was not impressed the first time I read it.
