the first thing I am buying is a subscription to Intelligent Life. I currently subscribe to Vanity Fair, Food and Wine, Smithsonian and The New Yorker, but none achieve the range and intelligence of this British magazine.

The Demise of TimesSelect

TimesSelect is over. I don't know how many times I've wanted to read something with the little orange T and been denied. It's mostly been recently archived articles that I've delicioused and have been unable to go back and read, but it'll be nice to have access to Thomas Friedman and Maureen Dowd again. About a month ago I signed up for some free trial, and then was told that it wouldn't work on my Mac, which annoyed me even further. The Times is my favorite paper, and I'm glad they've finally come to their senses.

WaPo Style & Arts

On Sunday the Washington Post Arts and Living and Style sections will become one, called Style & Arts.
The Post will never compare to the Times, in my eyes, so I'm hoping that the new section will elevate their coverage of the arts scene. The paper needs some fresh voices, so (aside from hiring me, which is the obvious solution), we'll see this weekend what they do with it.

And then maybe the Post can revamp the laughably bad Book World, which I'm sure will be following in the footsteps of other book review sections if it doesn't improve.
