I love this project, which combines politics, art and baked goods. In honor of President's Day, artist and baker Zilly Rosen is to create a portrait, A New Birth of Freedom, made entirely of cupcakes, which celebrates Barack Obama’s inauguration and the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth.
The temporary installation, comprised of over 5,000 cupcakes, will be on display on February 14 from 12-5 p.m. from the mezzanine levels of the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Luce Foundation Center. The best part? When the piece is de-installed that evening, help out by eating a cupcake.
