Last night I stumbled across Red Velvet Cupcakery, which is now open. Obviously, I got one — the Southern Belle, which is a red velvet cake (and which is also my favorite kind of cupcake). And it's great — it's not too sweet, which is how I like my cake, and the frosting is delicious. There are a couple of others on the menu, including summertime, a lemon cake with coconut frosting and morning call, chocolate espresso cake with mocha frosting.
The shop is kind of bare bones, and it's nowhere near as cute as Hello Cupcake or Georgetown cupcake, but does it really need to be? The Southern Belle is happiness, and it's only $3.25.
