A new wine bar will be opening around October 1 at 11th and Lamont. It will be going into the abandoned 11th St. Deli. And Columbia Heights always needs new restaurants. Sounds great, right?
Wrong, apparently. The Columbia Heights listserv is abuzz with complaints about noise and trash, but this is my favorite comment:
"An upscale drunk is still a drunk, no matter how a person words it. And that's exactly what will be seen there, inebriated wine tasters."
Are the sort of people who go taste wine the same sort who drink too much and cause a ruckus? I didn't think so.
