Having grown up in New England, where every summer my parents would take me to lobster shacks in Maine and Connecticut, I was more than a little excited about the opening of Tackle Box, a new seafood spot in Georgetown that claims on its web site to offer “a taste of your last beach vacation while still in the city.”
Located next to sister restaurant Hook, Tackle Box is the second restaurant opened by the Pure Hospitality Restaurant Group, led by Jonathan Umbel and chef Barton Seaver. Both restaurants support sustainable fishing, which means that suppliers use habitat-friendly fishing gear and support local fishing communities. Sustain-able fishing also means that Tackle Box uses what fish is available, so the menu can change frequently. The menu is written on a chalkboard at the front of the restaurant, where you order at the counter and then pick up your food.
