Also on Thursday is the latest installment of the Modernist Society, at Bourbon on 18th Street. The speaker will be Anthony Lappe, a journalist and television producer who's written a new graphic novel called "Shooting War." Lappe's novel tells the story of a young reporter covering the war in Iraq, is set in a world where bombs explode in New York coffee shops and nuclear weapons are used in Asia. Free cocktails from 8 to 9 p.m., an interview and audience Q&A with the author from 9 to 10 p.m., and DJs until 2 a.m.
I actually haven't made it to one of these yet, but I keep hearing how fun they are.
